What do I feed my little one after he or she is 6 months old?
If your baby is about to turn 6 months old, you are probably wondering what foods you can start to include in their diet. Starting at this age, it is recommended that in addition to breast milk, you feed your little one some fruit and vegetables and that you introduce liquids such as water.
As soon as they are 6 months old, you can gradually start introducing different foods.
- Between 6 and 7 months you can include baby food, vegetables like spinach, carrots, celery and mushrooms, and meats like chicken and turkey. As for fruit, you can start with apple, melon, peach and plum.
- Between 6 and 7 months you can add fish and shellfish such as salmon, sardines and clams.
- Between 7 and 8 months you can give your little one lentils and chickpeas in addition to the foods that you have previously included.
- Finally, from 9 months on you can introduce chicken eggs into your little one’s diet.
Make sure to pay attention and identify how your little one reacts to each new food and remember to consult your pediatrician if you have additional questions about your little one’s nutrition.
