Protect your family from the coronavirus

The coronavirus (COVID-19) has become a big concern for many parents. Experts recommend taking precautionary measures, especially if you have children at home.

It has been discovered that the virus can be transmitted not only by contact with an infected person, but also indirectly through touching infected surfaces. We know that you are very busy, so use these practical tips to help keep your family safe.

Stay at home

Staying home is the best option to avoid contact with other people who may be infected. If it is necessary to go out, take into account that you must stay 6 feet away from others, avoiding crowds and contact with sick people or anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

Disinfect your home

It is very important that you apply all the hygiene habits you have taught your little one to your own life and reinforce them every day. Follow these tips to keep your home clean and disinfected. Remember that your little one can be a great cleaning helper:

  • Sanitize all surfaces, cabinets and utensils used for preparing food.
  • Use paper towels instead of dish towels.
  • Disinfect garbage cans.
  • Disinfect handles, switches, toys, remote controls, etc. daily.
  • Try to leave your shoes at the entrance of your house.
  • Wash food before putting it in the refrigerator.
  • Disinfect your cell phone and electronic devices.
  • Wash items like stuffed animals as appropriate. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and make sure the toy can be washed.

Maintain personal hygiene
Always remember to maintain your little one’s and your own personal hygiene.

  • Take a bath or shower every day, especially if you have had to leave the house, you should bathe immediately when you return.
  • Bathe your little one every day.
  • Use soap and water to wash your hands, for at least 20 seconds at a time. Singing the chorus of a song from beginning to end can help you keep track of the time.
  • If you don’t have soap and water, you can use hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol.

Strengthen your immune systems

COVID-19 has changed our lives, but we can take measures to help us face it. One of the most important ways is to strengthen our immune systems and those of our children.

  • Pay attention to what your little one eats. Cooking at home is a good option. The more natural, varied and nutritious the food you prepare is, the better.
  • Include at least 2 servings of fresh fruit and 2 servings of vegetables in your daily diet.
  • Remember to always properly disinfect all fruits and vegetables.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plain water.
  • Include oranges and lemons in your diet, as they are an important source of vitamin C.
