Shared Story: A Yorkshire Tale

How do you get children interested in stories?

We will use the example of a magical folktale from Yorkshire to demonstrate how you can use a simple ritual or routine to help your child settle and anticipate a story. We will also explore different ways of using your voice to bring a story alive and how you can encourage meaningful participation with your child.

Task: Come up with your own ritual/routine for story time.

Can your child draw and name their own fairy, perhaps a sand fairy that lives in the desert? Perhaps they can make or find a place for their fairy to hide?
